Tamborine Times 2 July 2015

In mid June, we had a Meeting at our Fire Station which included several of our local Emergency Services such as Rural Fire, Auxiliaries, SES, Police, Ambulance and, from the Gold Coast, Volunteer Marine Rescue. All parties agreed to pursue establishing Emergency Services Cadets on Tamborine Mountain.
For the last 12 to 18 months I have wanted to get this off the ground, to give our young people on the Mountain the opportunity to join. The stumbling block has been in finding a Cadet Coordinator, which we now have thanks to Tony Hall. Tony is also the Treasurer of Landcare and Vice President of Lions.
The Cadets will be open to young people from the ages of 12 – 17, and although 16+ young people can join the Rural Fire Brigade and SES and be operational, the Cadet programme gives young people the opportunity to experience working with many different emergency services.
The next stage before we start interviewing prospective Cadets to join is to interview adult leaders of which we need at least 6. If you are interested please ring Jennie Schoof, State Programme Manager, PCYC Emergency Service Cadet Program 0428 785 843.
An announcement will be made in the Tamborine Times when we will commence Cadet interviews. Think about it. This could just be YOU or someone you know.
With our growing numbers within the Rural Fire Brigade, and the ongoing Training Courses prior to this years Fire Season,we also need to expand our Support Crew. All it takes is a willingness to help by giving a few hours of your time per month in this Community service, mainly with our catering and fund raising activities.Any age over 17, male or female, retirees welcomed.
Please call 55452992 or 0447 717 321 and we’ll be glad to talk to you.
