Previous Appliances
The Acco – The old Acco was/is a great firefighter. Long legs, 4WD, 2600 litre tank, but the engine had a tendency to catch fire – in the cab!! Still in service as Birnam 62?
The Landrover – The Old Girl served us well for many years. Carried 100 “gallons” of water and leaked fuel copiously. Decommissioned and sold for use on Stradbroke Island.
The Fuso (Mother Duck) – Ex-urban Japanese Chemical Firefighting unit. 1600 litres and a phenomenal PTO pump. Seen here at the 2006 Regional Firefighting Championships providing water under pressure to multiple standpipes. Decommissioned and sold to a cable-laying contractor.
The Landcruiser – “TM3” seen here being used by the base radio operator for some property protection, carried 900 litres of water and was very top heavy! Decommissioned and sold to an earthworks contractor.
The Mazda – Our first NEW appliance! Carried 1000 litres and still top heavy!. Tipped over a couple of times. Passed on to a brigade out west.
The Old Isuzu – TM51 was bought pre-loved from Logan Village RFB. Best feature: AIRCON! Worst feature: It’s longer than it looks.
The Nissan – The stormwater pipes on the roof hold two lengths of suction hose, not pretty but very effective. “The Pig” carries 600 litres just about anywhere.
