Kootenai Drive

by Olle Bakker.
On Wednesday the 21st December at approx 1700 hrs, Tamborine Mtn Rurals received  a pager call to assist 664 Alpha (Tamborine Mtn Auxiliaries) with a house fire at 52 Kootenai Drive North Tamborine.
A crew of 5 in TM13 and a further crew of 3 in TM51 turned out in attendance.
On arrival the single storey structure was well alight as the Auxiliaries from Tamborine Mtn and Canungra (665 Alpha) used BA for search and rescue as well as attacking the structure with external fire suppression.
Our role varied from traffic control to relaying water from TM13 into 664 Alpha and manning the portable pump that the Auxiliaries had pumping from next door’s tank, as well as having Karen Mason as Safety Officer helping the firefighters out of their BA (Breathing Apparatus) gear as they came out of the house.
This in a way is a timely reminder to make sure that all appliances in your house are switched off before setting off for Christmas destinations be it for a day or longer.
Our condolences go out to those whom have lost so much.
Once again though great interface work from all emergency services involved in responding as quickly as possible to this incident.
Standown at 1830 hrs.
