Flexible Habitat Training

Hi All,

As you may be aware, Rural Fire Service Queensland – Ipswich Area, has been successful in purchasing a flexible habitat, deployable Base Camp similar to the QFRS Special Operation cache that was used for deployments to Fires and Floods in Queensland and the earthquake in New Zealand. The tents and sleeping equipment is housed at our Staging Area facility at Greenbank where the Greenbank RFB has been appointed to manage the safe storage, deployment, training and accountability of this wonderful resource.

I am still building on our capability and some more equipment is required, however I am seeking some assistance from volunteers who would like to be on Regional Team, who would provide assistance to Greenbank in the deployment of the Base Camp cache. This would potentially mean that you could be deployed to any natural disaster in Queensland or Australia where Rural Fire Service Queensland may be asked to assist. Your role would be to deploy with the cache as a part of a team and;

Set up the Base Camp once arrived at the incident,

Work in shifts to manage the base camp, focusing on looking after QFRS and Rural Fire Service Queensland staff and volunteers while conducting operational duties at the incident.

Pack up the Base Camp and recommission the equipment and return to Greenbank

A training day has been schedules for volunteer interested in this exciting new role with in our region. The details are:

When: Saturday 21st September

Where: Greenbank Rural Fire Brigade – 149 Teviot Road Greenbank

Time: 9am – 2pm

Dress: Yellows with Green T-shirt

Meals: Lunch will be provided

I believe this will be a great opportunity for both Operational and Support members to be involved in supporting the organisation and the communities of Queensland. If you are interested in attending the training, please complete the attached nomination form and send to the Area Office by COB Wednesday 18th September.
