Burnoff Training

by John Robertson

On the evening of 16th August ‘training’ was an incident. Paul was incident controller and there was a good turnout of members. All three trucks went to Kim’s property off Knoll Road and did a permitted burn on two piles of timber. Weather conditions were ideal with a very light wind. The Kikuyu grass area around each pile was protected by a chip line and a wet line. These proved very effective and the whole exercise went very smoothly. All vehicles, fed and watered, were back in the Station by 2155. A welcome feature was that comms on our handheld VHF’s went without a hitch – our new batteries and charging arrangements are bearing fruit.
